Cocktails & Wine On Ice

COCKTAILS & WINES “ON ICE” – VINS DOUX NATURELS FROM ROUSSILLON SURF ON THE NEW COCKTAIL WAVE!!!

This summer, the Roussillon Wines Council (CIVR) have placed an emphasis on “Riv’tonic”: a fresh new cocktail based on Rivesaltes Ambré, coupled with Muscat de Rivesaltes – “Muscat On Ice,” a soft natural wine served on the rocks, with two dedicated champagnes. Roussillon has dedicated investment to position wines from AOP Rivesaltes and AOP Muscat de Rivesaltes on the promising and growing markets of mixology and wines on ice.

ROUSSILLON WINES OUT TO CONQUER COCKTAIL BARS

Mixology’s success – the art of the cocktail – is such that the word itself has entered France’s famous Robert dictionary! In fact, cocktail bars have never been so numerous in France. Around 50 new cocktail bars have been registered in the past 15 years across Paris, as well as Lyon, Marseille, Montpellier, Lille and Rennes. This trend has prompted Roussillon Wines to push forward cocktails based on Rivesaltes Ambré: the Riv’tonic – a simple and original cocktail mixing Rivesalts Ambré with tonic, ice and a slice of orange. Throughout the summer, Roussillon Wines have toured the great festivals of the Eastern Pyranees, with a cocktail tasting program: at Live at Campo and Visa Pour l’Image, during a “battle” between professional bartenders from across France’s great establishments at Les Déferlantes d’Argelès-sur-Mer, and throughout 40 bars across Paris and Roussillon.

ROUSSILLON, THE MOST SOUTHERN OF FRENCH VINEYARDS

Laid out like an amphitheater, between the Pyrenees and the Mediterranean, Roussillon’s historical vineyard extends over 21400 hectares of grape vines classified into 14 AOPs and 3 IGPs. 380 domains, 25 cooperative cellars and 30 negociants produce around 100 million bottles per year: three-quarter of which in dry red, rosé and white wines, and one-quarter in Vins Doux Naturels.
